Training Plans for whilst all organised club activites are suspended

Following the government’s recent guidelines and guidance from other governing bodies, DRC Tri and Dursley Running Club have suspended all organised club activities until further notice. This includes all training sessions. We urge all our members to take seriously the well-publicised guidance on personal hygiene, social distancing and limitation of interaction with larger social groups. Anyone who develops the symptoms for coronavirus should follow the self-isolation steps set out by the government.

However, we would urge all our members to consider how to continue an active and healthy lifestyle and to continue with their individual training plans, even though it looks like many events will be cancelled this year. To support this, we publish below a range of training documents that may help you. Feel free to download these and use the content for ideas of activities you can continue to do yourself.

Swimming
At the time of writing, most public pools are still open so you can continue to practise your swimming. We recommend 2-3 swim sessions per week – perhaps one based on short distance sets building technique, one featuring longer sets to build strength and endurance, and one session of drills – there are lots to choose from in the training plans. Obviously, when warmer conditions arrive we can all start to think about OW swimming opportunities.

Running
The running club will be posting details of run routes you can use, along with regular strava segment challenges.

Cycling 
Cycling is essentially a solitary activity anyway, so continue to build this into your programme. Make use of your turbos and exercise bikes to continue build your base strength, and get out on those roads, perhaps in small groups, to enjoy your cycling! As with running, we will be posting details of regular strava challenges and bike routes for you to have a go at.
